Ashleagh Claire Hurren, better known as her musical alias Polly Preacher (Colchester, UK), returns with a second single this year titled “Blood On The Moon” and the first song ahead of next year’s Mother’s Ruin EP. Combing the wistful innocence of twee-pop with witty and subtlety menacing lyrics, Polly Preacher catches your attention with immediate hooks and her distinct vocal delivery.
Beginning as a lo-if bedroom recording artist, Ashleagh’s first EP was rooted firmly in folk and acapella influences. “Blood on the Moon” changes up the plot by introducing a fuller band sound, sharpened production and a flair for upbeat indie pop. If this first single is any indication then Polly Preacher looks to have assembled all the ingredients for a breakthrough in 2020.
