Redspencer – All I Do

Redspencer – All I Do

I adore Redspencer – seriously is there anything more awesome than their Tell track/video? – and we haven’t heard anything from them for a while so I was more than pleasantly surprised to bump into their new single. To be honest I never expected anything more than excellence from the Melbourne based dreampop outfit, and I wasn’t wrong. All I Do is a swoony tune in the tradition of Real Estate and the mellow side of Wild Nothing, but just slightly less predictable and a tad more lofi. Just when you think you know which way it’s all going, in come the unexpected, almost jazzy chord progressions, psychey nooks and crannies and (hey!) a transcendent flute. It’s a trip I want to make as soon as possible!

Songwriter David McMillan and his younger brother, Aiden were raised in Northern rural Australia but moved to the bustling surf rock scene of Gold Coast starting their Redspencer project. Arriving in Melbourne in 2013 they released a series of singles and in 2015 they released their debut EP followed up by an album the following year (‘Perks’).
David took a break from the band shortly after the album to pursue drumming in other local projects while slowly chipping away at the second album ‘Dreamworld‘ (Dinkum Records/Tear Jerk Records), which will be released soon! Seriously can’t wait!
