In the fall of 2017 Pia Fraus (Eve Komp -vocals, synths, metallophone, Kärt Ojavee -synths, Rein Fuks – guitars, vocals, percussion Reijo Tagapere -bass, and Margus Voolpriit -drums) will release their first full-length album in almost a decade, and pretty soon they will be releasing an EP entitled “That’s Not All” on the Seksound Record Label. The whole EP is centered around one single single (lol) and remixes thereof.
“That’s Not All” will be the final track on their forth coming album, and, of course, I am happy to hear Pia Fraus have stayed their usual lovely selves….. Still heavily influenced by early My Bloody Valentine‘s oblique tremolo bends, boy/girl harmonies, but adding their own subtle, warm chords, and hazy dreamy synths. “That’s Not All” is the perfect soundtrack to a summery “open-roof-top-roadtrip” somewhere along the Amalfi coast. Despite the Estonian snowflakes….
The remixes:
Included on the EP are a number of remixes of “That’s Not All” including one from Chicago’s shoegaze darlings Airiel that have given a the track a slightly more polished and loungy feeling. Estonia’s experimental electronic artist Galaktlan depicts us an ambient experience, German electronic maestro Ulrich Schnauss does something more upbeat and poppy and Estonia’s very own dreampop band Picnic have turned it into an electronic MBV version. However, electric music-based multidisciplinary media ensemble Mahogany have made my favourite remix by far: it could easily stand on its own as something completely different and quite excellent, which is to be expected of them.

The EP has been mixed and mastered by the band’s longtime friend Lauri Lilvak. Along with the current band members, the single sees ex-members of the Pia Fraus family return with Joosep Volk directing the video for “That’s Not All” and Kristel Eplik returning on backing vocals.
The “That’s Not All” EP will be released on May 29, 2017 in both digital and limited CD formats.
