THE DEATH OF POP/ THE SKATING PARTY SPLIT 7″ LATHE CUT

The Skating Party is a project from Philadelphia’s Gregory James. Their song “Twin Polar “ will appeal to lovers of jangly/ twee and neatly fits in with like-minded dreampop bands like Radio Dept., Arctic Flow, Cherry Coals and Death of Pop. It contains delightful layered harmonies, shimmering jangly guitars and melancholic lyrics : “Something about you changed but I don’t know”.

The Death of Pop are Bournemouth’s most famous bedroom jangle-gaze quintet consisting of 3 brothers and 2 cousins. They have released two albums and some ep’s/ singles. Their latest release ( april 2016) is their compilation “Runts” : https://thedeathofpop.bandcamp.com/album/runts.

Locomotive” is another wonderful example of DOP’s quirky signature sound with unpredictable twists and diverging (train) cadences (excellent drumming again!) to rival Bacharach himself. The interaction of vintage keys and guitars is as superbly lustrous as always!

Both band are featured in a compilation that was released in the summer of 2015 called the Colorwheel Compilation LP together with other talented artists like TEEEL, the,Young Pharaohs, Tape Waves, Night Panther, the Arctic Flow ( see Arctic Flow article on here), Moon Pollen, Roman Ruins .
