Softer Still are fam to Fadeawayradiate by now! Grant Williams, his girlfriend Ellie O’Shea and chums had quite a few features on here and also contributed twice to the Fadeawayradiate cover compilations. The single “Turtle Bay” was already released on 31st of August via label Fandango, and was the first single to come from the forthcoming debut album ‘Nuances’ which is set for release on 2nd November. The highly anticipated video for “Turtle Bay” is finally here!
The track was written and produced by frontman Grant Williams and drummer Ollie Kitson in their homemade studio in the garage. According to Softer Still: “Turtle Bay” is a metaphor for reaching paradise spiritually by pushing through the weather and chaos with someone you love on the journey of life as opposed to being an actual place.”
“Turtle Bay” is an airy and luscious track as we are wont from Softer Still: expect typical 80’s synth-bells, shimmery guitars, signature sophistipop details, and cadence straight out of “Love is a Battle Field”. The interaction between Ellie‘s downy vocals a la Wendy Smith and Grant‘s more velvet timbre, are a delight and their sound is more structured and pronounced than ever before. It looks like “Nuances” will bring us a more solid Softer Still and songs with more and more depth and substance. Looking forward guys!
