We introduced The Shop Window here in April this year when they released their debut single “Mannequin Lies”(https://www.fadeawayradiate.com/2020/04/the-shop-window-mannequin-lies/) The Shop Window are a 4-piece indie/janglepop band, fronted by Carl Mann and Simon ‘Syd’ Oxlee. Their journey began over 20 years ago when they landed their first record deal for project Westpier, label mates with Sleeper on Indolent Records (BMG). Once Westpier stopped, Carl ended up playing guitar for Sleeper. After a long break Carl found some renewed inspiration with old friends Martin Corder and Phil Elphee, and brought along his old friend Syd to sing some harmonies: The Shop Window was born!
The Shop Window have released three well-received singles prior to this release, the aforementioned “Mannequin Lies “(April), “Reflection“(June) and “Evacuate” in August. These releases have grown them a bit of a fan-base of loyal followers and they have had some glowing reviews from bloggers in the meantime. The new single “Sad Eyes” houses classic 6o’s jangle/powerpop guitar and sunny harmonies, but also plenty of 80s postpunk and C86 influences, but this time, a bit more emphasis on the “sparkle” than the last two singles.
