Choux (US/Canada) is a dreampop outfit led by lead vocalist Lizzie Carolan and multi-instrumentalist Jordan Gatesmith. They release the first single/video Super Moon of their forthcoming EP (by the same name) today.
Their previous pop project Total Babe landed them in international commercials and nationally syndicated television shows like Grey’s Anatomy. In 2011, the two moved on to pursue different projects. Lizzie left Minneapolis for Montreal to study, and Jordan went on to form indie punk band Howler (Rough Trade). He also released a lo-fi bedroom pop project under the moniker Wellness.
Despite the geographical distance, Choux was born out of a lasting bond, a musical connection, and mutual love for the dreampop genre. The duo consequently began to sifting through written material to compile demos into what has now become their debut EP Super Moon.
Super Moon starts out atmospherically like Slowdive on synths, and then Lizzie‘s vocals turn it into The Cocteau‘s on grooves. After that the magic happens, and things start making sense when the Liz Fraser embraces Johnny Marr and even Kevin Shields joins in, and the whole thing takes off like a swirling mass of elation. Need I say more? Super Moon EP will be self-released on November 20th. Don’t miss!
