Silver Liz is the bedroompop project project of Chicago-based couple Carrie and Matt Wagner. The two of them had tinkered with making music together throughout their relationship, but in 2016 that they decided to release music under the name Silver Liz. Matt has a classical music school background, which along the way, he found to be increasingly isolating and so he started recording ideas for pop songs that were more immediately gratifying. Matt asked Carrie if she could sing and write lyrics, resulting in Silver Liz.
The first song released was “Float” in 2016. In 2017, Silver Liz released two more singles – “One and Twenty” and “Him”, and in October 2017, they released their debut album I Can Feel the Weight. Since then, Silver Liz have been writing songs for their second album, which they hope to release sometime in 2020 or early 2021.
The new single “Microwave S’mores”, was recently released and is a very apt song for these Lockdown Days. Silver Liz: “Microwave S’mores” is about not wanting to go out and wanting to just stay indoors. When shelter-in-place was announced, we thought it would be the perfect song to release, so we finished recording it while quarantined in March and April. Of course, many of us are desperately wanting to go outside these days, but this song might help some remember all the times they wished they’d had an excuse to stay in and not go out.” Funny thing is: this mellow bedroom ditty actually just makes me wanna go out and and enjoy the sparkly rays and melt in a beach chair somewhere.
All proceeds from the track will be donated to the MusicCares’ COVID-19 Relief Fund.
