Palm Ghosts is a Nashville-based dreampop/jangle/post punk project initiated by songwriter/producer Joseph Lekkas who is assisted by in his musical endeavours by Ben Douglas (vocals, guitars, keyboards), Jason Springman (vocals, guitars) and Rene Lambert on drums.
Palm Ghosts draw heavily and audibly from the sonic stylistics from the postpunk and C86 era from the 80’s, and credit bands like, Cocteau Twins, Echo and The Bunnymen, and The Cure for inspiration but try to sound fresh at the same time.
In 2017 Palm Ghosts released the album Architecture, and they will soon launch another brandnew EP named “Wide Awake and Waiting” (Feb 7th). Its first single (with the same name) was released on January 10th and today the second one, “Lorelei“, sees the light of day. Personally, I think “Lorelei” is more reminiscent of the more jangly bands like The The and Ocean Blue rather then the aforementioned influences and takes a route that suits them nicely and I hope they will stay on it for the time being.
Palm Ghosts has some tour dates for the new year starting on Jan 17th in Atlanta.
