Boy Romeo is a Chicago based project headed by songwriter John Steiner. “Let’s Roll” is the first single from their forthcoming full-length album Pure Soul, which shall be released through Slovakian cassette label Z Tapes, on February 14th. “Let’s Roll” is an uplifting jangly ditty with some dashes of of dreampop, a laidback lofi aura, coated in layers of sugary 50’s bubblegumpop and topped with a sing-along chorus. The music-video, filmed at Week in Pop‘s rooftop headquarters in San Francisco, CA for “Let’s Roll“was directed by California legend Eli Wengrin, who has turned it into a casual, sunny, flower-power happening mixed with twee animations. Looks like they are having fun!
Steiner: “On our forthcoming album Pure Soul, Boy Romeo will display a variety of new sounds and stylings into its classic brand of power-pop, including Byrdsian jangle, AOR funk, R&B bounce and sunshine pop swing. The result is a Technicolor journey through the lost yearnings of hazy suburbadelic youth.”
